Creating Focus

Focus. It is a word we all know but one in which many of us struggle to do. With so many distractions in today’s world, it is easy to become less and less focused on the things that we should. So how do we tune out all of these distractions in order to become more focused and really set out to accomplish the goals that we have?

The very first thing that you need to do is literally write out your goals. You can only be serious about what you want to accomplish when you sit down and write out exactly what it is that you want to accomplish. This will set forth a conscious and subconscious neural pathway to put your goals into perspective and to see them as achievable.

You are going to need to have these goals be so strong in your mind that you can’t imagine not being able to achieve them. They need to be the motivating factor that truly gets you excited to get out of bed in the morning and to stay up late at night. A powerful goal that you want to achieve is the first step you will make in order to achieve more focus in your life. With the right drive and desire to reach these goals, focus will be inevitable.

Once you have your goals written out and they are compelling enough to make you want to work hard to accomplish them, then you need to set forth on finding the right tools and training to help you succeed with these goals.

Study the people who have been successful in accomplishing likewise goals. Find out what tools they used and how they got to be so successful. Once you know exactly what to do and how to do it, then and only then will you be able to make a strong push towards reaching your goals.

The very last step is action. You have the powerful goals set to make you want to succeed, and you have also got the tools and training to get you there, the only thing left for you to do is create a plan and take massive action. You’ll have to create time to work towards hitting the goals and make progress every day.

Those are the basic three steps you’ll need to take if you want to learn how to focus more on the goals you want to achieve in your life. Anyone has the ability to make absolutely anything happen so long as they set forth on a path of daily action and execution to reach their ultimate goals.

Setting up Backlinks

If you’ve read anything about or studied Search Engine Optimization, you’ve come across the term “backlink” at least once. For those of you new to SEO, you may be wondering what a backlink is, and why they are important. Backlinks have become so important to the scope of Search Engine Optimization, that they have become some of the main building blocks to good SEO. In this article, we will explain to you what a backlink is, why they are important, and what you can do to help gain them while avoiding getting into trouble with the Search Engines.
What are “backlinks”? Backlinks are links that are directed towards your website. Also knows as Inbound links (IBL’s). The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website. Backlinks are important for SEO because some search engines, especially Google, will give more credit to websites that have a good number of quality backlinks, and consider those websites more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query.

When search engines calculate the relevance of a site to a keyword, they consider the number of QUALITY inbound links to that site. So we should not be satisfied with merely getting inbound links, it is the quality of the inbound link that matters.
A search engine considers the content of the sites to determine the QUALITY of a link. When inbound links to your site come from other sites, and those sites have content related to your site, these inbound links are considered more relevant to your site. If inbound links are found on sites with unrelated content, they are considered less relevant. The higher the relevance of inbound links, the greater their quality.

For example, if a webmaster has a website about how to rescue orphaned kittens, and received a backlink from another website about kittens, then that would be more relevant in a search engine’s assessment than say a link from a site about car racing. The more relevant the site is that is linking back to your website, the better the quality of the backlink.
Search engines want websites to have a level playing field, and look for natural links built slowly over time. While it is fairly easy to manipulate links on a web page to try to achieve a higher ranking, it is a lot harder to influence a search engine with external backlinks from other websites. This is also a reason why backlinks factor in so highly into a search engine’s algorithm. Lately, however, a search engine’s criteria for quality inbound links has gotten even tougher, thanks to unscrupulous webmasters trying to achieve these inbound links by deceptive or sneaky techniques, such as with hidden links, or automatically generated pages whose sole purpose is to provide inbound links to websites. These pages are called link farms, and they are not only disregarded by search engines, but linking to a link farm could get your site banned entirely.
Another reason to achieve quality backlinks is to entice visitors to come to your website. You can’t build a website, and then expect that people will find your website without pointing the way. You will probably have to get the word out there about your site. One way webmasters got the word out used to be through reciprocal linking. Let’s talk about reciprocal linking for a moment.

There is much discussion in these last few months about reciprocal linking. In the last Google update, reciprocal links were one of the targets of the search engine’s latest filter. Many webmasters had agreed upon reciprocal link exchanges, in order to boost their site’s rankings with the sheer number of inbound links. In a link exchange, one webmaster places a link on his website that points to another webmasters website, and vice versa. Many of these links were simply not relevant, and were just discounted. So while the irrelevant inbound link was ignored, the outbound links still got counted, diluting the relevancy score of many websites. This caused a great many websites to drop off the Google map.

We must be careful with our reciprocal links. There is a Google patent in the works that will deal with not only the popularity of the sites being linked to, but also how trustworthy a site is that you link to from your own website. This will mean that you could get into trouble with the search engine just for linking to a bad apple. We could begin preparing for this future change in the search engine algorithm by being choosier with which we exchange links right now. By choosing only relevant sites to link with, and sites that don’t have tons of outbound links on a page, or sites that don’t practice black-hat SEO techniques, we will have a better chance that our reciprocal links won’t be discounted.

Many webmasters have more than one website. Sometimes these websites are related, sometimes they are not. You have to also be careful about interlinking multiple websites on the same IP. If you own seven related websites, then a link to each of those websites on a page could hurt you, as it may look like to a search engine that you are trying to do something fishy. Many webmasters have tried to manipulate backlinks in this way; and too many links to sites with the same IP address is referred to as backlink bombing.

One thing is certain: interlinking sites doesn’t help you from a search engine standpoint. The only reason you may want to interlink your sites in the first place might be to provide your visitors with extra resources to visit. In this case, it would probably be okay to provide visitors with a link to another of your websites, but try to keep many instances of linking to the same IP address to a bare minimum. One or two links on a page here and there probably won’t hurt you.

There are a few things to consider when beginning your backlink building campaign. It is helpful to keep track of your backlinks, to know which sites are linking back to you, and how the anchor text of the backlink incorporates keywords relating to your site. A tool to help you keep track of your backlinks is the Domain Stats Tool. This tool displays the backlinks of a domain in Google, Yahoo, and MSN. It will also tell you a few other details about your website, like your listings in the Open Directory, or DMOZ, from which Google regards backlinks highly important; Alexa traffic rank, and how many pages from your site that have been indexed, to name just a few.

Another tool to help you with your link building campaign is the Backlink Builder Tool. It is not enough just to have a large number of inbound links pointing to your site. Rather, you need to have a large number of QUALITY inbound links. This tool searches for websites that have a related theme to your website which are likely to add your link to their website. You specify a particular keyword or keyword phrase, and then the tool seeks out related sites for you. This helps to simplify your backlink building efforts by helping you create quality, relevant backlinks to your site, and making the job easier in the process.

There is another way to gain quality backlinks to your site, in addition to related site themes: anchor text. When a link incorporates a keyword into the text of the hyperlink, we call this quality anchor text. A link’s anchor text may be one of the under-estimated resources a webmaster has. Instead of using words like “click here” which probably won’t relate in any way to your website, using the words “Please visit our tips page for how to nurse an orphaned kitten” is a far better way to utilize a hyperlink. A good tool for helping you find your backlinks and what text is being used to link to your site is the Backlink Anchor Text Analysis Tool. If you find that your site is being linked to from another website, but the anchor text is not being utilized properly, you should request that the website change the anchor text to something incorporating relevant keywords. This will also help boost your quality backlinks score.

Building quality backlinks is extremely important to Search Engine Optimization, and because of their importance, it should be very high on your priority list in your SEO efforts. We hope you have a better understanding of why you need good quality inbound links to your site, and have a handle on a few helpful tools to gain those links.

A Winning Mindset

The secret of winning in life lies in seeing life differently – in its different shades and outcomes. “Life becomes a path that leads to achievements. Winners do not value life as much as what they can do with it. For them life is not a tedious journey from the womb to the tomb. It is a journey about crossing milestones and looking forward to new ones.
The best place to start is to change yourself. If whatever you do doesn’t work, you must be flexible – you must change your action plan if the current one does not produce the required results. If you want other people to change, you must be prepared to make the first step yourself. If you cannot change your environment, you should change your attitude.
The winners stun us not by their cleverness, but by the fact that every tiny aspect of the business is just a touch better than the norm.
To win, you must have a strong focus. You have limited resources and must use them in the most effective way. What is the best focus you can have?
Have you ever wondered why some people just seem to be better at everything? They handle stress better, operate with more mental clarity, have that air of confidence, and know exactly what they want, then get it! When you look at them, they don’t appear to be any smarter, more talented, or better in any way than you. Yet, they get the RESULTS.
Look, I don’t CARE how good you think you are…you can improve your RESULTS.
When it comes to succeeding in life there are three basics mindsets that people tend to have. These are the win/lose mentality, the lose/lose mentality and the win/win mentality.

People with a win/lose mentality would be those that compare themselves to other people all the time. They believe that in order for them to succeed others must fail. To them, success is relative.

Those with a lose/lose mentality believe that they can never achieve anything worthwhile so why should they let you do so. They try to keep other people in the sinking boat that they are in. Negativity is the order of the day for them. Don’t ever try to tell such people that you have great plans for your life – they will only criticize you and tell you it can’t be done. After all, they tried that already and it did not work!

Dreamers, who are achievers, have the win/win mentality. Not only do they know that they are capable of and will succeed, but they realize that their success does not depend on other people’s failure. To the contrary, their success depends on other people’s success.
If you are to succeed in life and become the person you are meant to be, then you must know that you will not get there alone. Therefore you must help others to succeed and to become great if you are to be great yourself. It is often said that the greatest people are always those that help others.

Learn to be happy about others’ success and look forward to your own success. Do not judge yourself based on what others have achieved, but rather based on what you want to achieve. Depending on what you want in life, their success could be failure to you or vice versa, but it should not matter to you either way.

Life is not a race against other people. It is a one man race. You determine the destination, the route, the time limits and the prize. We are all running a different race. How do you compete with someone that is not on the same track as you are?

Envy and jealousy are habits you must always be weary of and stay clear of. Like other bad habits they will only rob you of your energy, creativity, drive, clarity of mind and enthusiasm for life.
Stephen R. Covey, in discussing this subject states: “Win/win is based on the paradigm that there is plenty for everybody, that one person’s success is not achieved at the expense or exclusion of the success of others…It’s not your way or my way; it’s a better way, a higher way.”

You are all you can be. Go on and be it.

Get Rid of Distractions!!

First, let me say that there should be room in your life for distractions. Work should be fun, and without a few distractions, things can get boring. That being said, when it’s time to do a task, there’s no reason to do it while handling a million other things. You’ll never get things done that way. When you’re ready to work on a task, block out all else, and really focus on it. Do your best on that task, and get it done as quickly as possible. Then reward yourself with distractions.
Distractions have the power to zap our energy, steal time, disrupt our thoughts and make us unproductive. But what is the source of their power? We most often use the verb “distract” in the passive construction, as in “I was distracted,” or “I get distracted easily,” suggesting that distractions are something that happens to us without our volition. The truth is what is a distraction to some may not be a distraction to others. Distractions surface when our brain reacts to a stimulus in our environment and causes us to switch tasks.
Admit that you can choose to either react to the distracting stimulus by acting upon it or ignore the stimulus. You are in control. Build awareness of when and why you respond to distractions.
Plan and prioritize your activities. If you know what you should be doing in a given moment and why, it is easier to stay focused on the task at hand. “being in the zone,” or “flow”. It is a very joyful state when you are completely immersed in the experience and don’t want to get distracted. Do you have a favorite hobby that brings about this sensation of effortless achievement?
When you consciously choose to put your energy into something that has meaning and value to you, the distractions will disappear.
Motivate yourself properly.
The truth is we like our distractions because they save us from routine, mundane tasks that we don’t want to do. The solution is either to choose not to perform those tasks or to make them appealing because of the outcomes or benefits you receive once they are completed. When you create your list of goals, write down the reasons why you should accomplish those goals. Visualize the outcomes. The feelings and emotions you experience can be strong motivators.
De-clutter and simplify. Make your physical environment conducive to working without interruptions. Turn off the new email notification, clean out your desk to avoid unnecessary visual stimulation, eliminate the sounds of TV or radio, turn off your cell phone. You decide when you check your email, talk on the phone, watch TV, or chat with your friends or coworkers. Schedule those activities and be disciplined about following your schedule.
Meditate. Sometimes we get distracted by our own thoughts. “Oops, I forgot to call my Mom.” “When am I going to get to that report that is due in a week?” “I need to go to the grocery store before it closes.” You know those pesky thoughts that buzz around when you try to concentrate. Meditation can be a great strategy to train your brain to quiet itself. When you start feeling overwhelmed and hurried, take a few deep breaths, close your eyes and focus on breathing. Let your thoughts come and go, if they linger, simply redirect your attention back to your breathing pattern. Take it easy. Relax. Make it a habit to meditate regularly.
Be consistent in your efforts to minimize the impact of distractions, but remember that you can’t avoid them completely. Don’t get frustrated when distractions happen. Instead, budget a bit more time for your main tasks to factor in the possibility that you may have to attend to something else. It is especially important if you tend to underestimate the amount of time you need to get things done.

Taking a Risk!!

Salespeople and managers who consistently perform at a higher level have certain things in common. They are committed to their success, have a passion for their profession, have clear goals and are uniformly more comfortable taking risks than most. Their ability to take intelligent risks is an important ingredient in their success and a huge determinant in anybody’s level of achievement.

Sub-optimal performers settle into their comfort zone, fall into endlessly recurring patterns and stop challenging themselves in significant ways. By contrast, top performers are talented and persistent risk-takers. They are better at taking risks like cold calling, going for the close, taking on new products and trying new ideas in recruiting and growing their field offices. It’s possible to improve a person’s risk-taking ability and hence their performance.

Business is full of risks. Whether you are in business for yourself or working for an employer, taking a risk in doing something different can be scary. You may fear failure and loss of money, or perhaps you fear embarrassment or humiliation. Some fear of risk-taking is healthy, and will help you evaluate situations more effectively before you jump into unfamiliar territory. With some time and effort, you can overcome crippling fear that is keeping you from making decisions that could lead to your success.
Build your confidence with successes that come from taking small risks. Confidence, like a muscle, grows stronger with increased use and strain. Look for smaller opportunities where you can move out in business or at work, where if you were to fail, the loss would be insignificant to your overall financial or emotional outlook.
Plan for success in your business. When you follow a well-constructed carefully-considered plan for business growth, your risk of failure decreases. Be sure to evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses in your business plans. Have a clear picture of the desired outcome, and how you will get there.
Enlist the assistance of others who have strengths in areas where you are weak. Having wise counsel on board can lessen your overall risk and make success more certain. You may also be able to spread the risk out over multiple people, decreasing each person’s individual exposure.
Review your accomplishments often. Look at each positive outcome in your business, and consider the risks that you had to take in order to bring this about. Keep a journal detailing these outcomes, and how you dealt with the risks in these cases.
Minimize risk whenever possible. Know what is an acceptable risk to you. Look for lower-risk options in your business, particularly when financing business operations. You may be able to finance a venture yourself with some effort instead of borrowing from a bank, reducing the risk of default.
Evaluate your behavior often to be certain that you are not taking unnecessary risks. Balance the projected return from a project or venture against what could happen if it were to fail. Some risks are too great to take, and the return does not justify the risk under any circumstances.

How to educate yourself Online

The foundation to really understanding how to learn internet marketing is to understand that everything has to sit on an internet marketing strategy. This strategy should cover the main elements of how a business is going to promote it’s brand online and should include the following components
SEO – Search engine optimization. The art of trying to get your website to appear in a good position in natual (ie non paid) search results.
PPC – Paid advertising in which you pay for each person who clicks on your advertisement. Google’s adsense is the biggest program.
Affiliate Marketing or PPA – Advertising in which you pay per action (usually signup) of the visitors. People offer their programs and the publishers pick which ones to put on their site. Big ones are CJ, Ebay, Amazon, AffiliateFuel, etc.
Sales funnel – A part of a website designed to convert interested visitors into paid customers.
Network marketing – A type of online advertising.
Social media – Learn how Facebook, Twitter, endless forums, Ning Groups, Yahoo groups, blogs, even YouTube, and so one can be marketing tools.
Email/Newsletter Writing and Management
Google Analytics
Google Webmaster Tools
Google Optimizer
Web design

At this stage you are ready to focus on your content and optimizing it. This should be an ongoing process and any new content that is uploaded to your site should have an element of optimization about it.
Now – I believe there are two distinct though processes on this – you either believe that SEO is a valuable exercise and you stand a better chance of getting visibility for your target keywords by optimizing your content or, you use social media exclusively and ignore the search engines when it comes to attracting new clients.
A recent study by Nielsen Ratings showed that Search Engines are still the primary channel for people looking for new things.
Getting good organic visibility in the search engines relies heavily on having a website that has built a lot of authority over time. So what does website authority actually mean? It refers to the quality of back-links that a website has pointing to it.

Learning how to scope out, develop, evolve and implement a strategic internet marketing plan takes an increasing amount of knowledge and skills. They are rarely, if ever, found in just one person. Anybody telling you they can implement a complete internet marketing plan on their own, either take this statement with a large grain of salt, OR KEEP THEM!

The best way to learn about internet marketing is to get involved with a real life campaign – see what works and what doesn’t. No two campaigns will be the same. Different approaches work better for different verticals, different cultures, different search engines..etc.

Personal Development

One of the best personal development ideas I’ve found combines positive thinking and personal growth with a way to make six figures working part time…

Which gives you more time and finances to develop yourself and live life.

But why is it a great idea to include this in your personal development plan?

Because regardless of what you may or may not believe right now, your personal development process is intrinsic to your financial success…

And your financial success is intrinsic to your personal development.

Whether you’re “flipping burgers” at minimum wage, or making the “big bucks” in the corporate world…

The more you develop yourself, the faster and better you climb life’s financial ladder…

And the higher you get on the ladder of financial freedom, the more time and financial resources you have to develop yourself.

What I’ve found is a resource that combines personal development specifically angled to developing you as a person, as well as angled to helping you succeed in making six figures.

There are many personal development ideas that touch different aspects of your life.

Say, for example, you attend motivational seminars that talk about one aspect of your life and you take it home and figure out a way to incorporate it into your life.

That’s a good start and I think weekend seminars and events are good for “a la carte” issues.

But, many times when the seminar is over, you “go back” to your daily life of the “more negative than positive” work environment…

And you find it increasingly difficult to tell others about your adventures because they just don’t “get it”…

They weren’t at the seminar…

They even ask you if you’re “for real” because they can’t relate to your new power and happiest!

So, you slowly “fade back” into the woodwork of the office until the next seminar.
positive environment woman

But what if you could attend a company personal development event where everyone is as positive as you are…

Who then prompt you to be more positive than you thought you ever could be?

And then you then stayed connected with these positive individuals who constantly asked you to develop yourself in new financial ways as well?

I’m sure this sounds like “pie in the sky” but one of the newest (and best) personal development ideas that I have found is where you have a “positive thinking home business” and you travel to personal development conferences and events where you grow personally…

Then return home and work daily with a turn key business system that is hooked into a supportive “you can do this” environment of people.

As you grow from the events and the mentoring, your income level rises…

And as your income level rises, you have more time and finances to “give back” to others who want a better life too. In fact, helping others in personal development can be very rewarding.

Your family gets involved with the events and grows too…

And you’re home with the family instead of sitting on a commuter train.

And instead of going to a seminar and then “coming home to the battle zone of negativity,” you stay enveloped in a bubble of “positivity” through your business, your associates, your mentor and your family – who grow more too!
When you’re looking at personal development ideas, one of the main factors to consider is your environmental support that “hovers” around you that either encourages you to grow…

Or encourages you to stagnate and “fit in.”

My choice is to surround myself with positivity every moment.

Learn about Technology

You need to understand the technology and its implications before purchasing any online marketing tools.

It’s imperative that you appreciate the difference between an ASP (applications service provider and a hosted solution, between tags and log files, between cookies and key values, between unique users and page impressions/views. If this is not possible, then it’s highly recommended to hire or pay a knowledgeable adviser.

It is vital that you define and prioritize your marketing campaign objectives before you start the search. Ask yourself and your team questions such as these: Are you looking for an ad server to improve your trafficking efficiency and manage keyword bids or to serve rich media and do time-lag to conversion analysis? Are you looking for an email tool to push 100 million emails per month or one that can do advanced CRM integration and conditional content segments?

The honest and considered answers to questions such as these will ensure that you do not get lured by features of the tools along the way. Again, if you don’t know what objectives are possible, hire an adviser with industry expertise.

Real value and personalized customer relationships can be created only by using the high-end features found on the volume marketing tools you will be evaluating (especially ad serving and email marketing tools.)

Marketers are often led to believe that they don’t need all the high-end sophisticated features, all they need is to serve a billion ads or 100 million emails per month. But it is these features that separate you from the pack in this era of spam and increased ad clutter. The increase in impact will support a justifiable ROI.

A realistic approach to your monthly ad impressions, email transmissions, and site traffic will ensure that you’re receiving the appropriate value from the tools you selected. The value gap occurs when there is an overestimation of the use of a tool and commitment to higher fees than the value received from the tool.

Make sure your various online marketing tools are well integrated on a technical level. The benefit, for example, of being able to remarket to site visitors via email based on on-site behavior (and being able to do so easily) is enormous. If you are not using tools that are part of the same suite, then make integration part of your contract terms.

Check that your tools can be integrated easily with your site and CRM system. In email marketing, for example, tight integration of your email tool and your CRM system is a vital requirement to ensure CAN-SPAM compliance. An open API is a must—case studies of integration projects done for other clients is highly recommended.

If independent use of the tool and its multiple features are an important factor in your decision or budgetary concerns, be sure to define those limits exclusive of any selection process. Due to the magnitude of the tools available, be aware that the level of independence in the use of these tools can vary widely.

Stay away from Dream Stealers

The world is full of negative people.

Negative people are Dream Stealers.

Dream Stealers will call you up out of the blue and tell you that what you are doing or that what you are involved in won’t work and that what they are offering is better.

In multi-level/network marketing, the way it works is that someone will get a list of people in different multi-level/network marketing companies and will then call you up and tell you that the multi-level/network marketing company that you are with is totally worthless and that you had better get out now and come join their new great & better multi-level/network marketing company.

In multi-level/network marketing, you’ll only see this kind of activity from total losers who are desperate to add people to their group and who are much better at wrecking things than in building things.

The Dream Stealers know they need to agitate and bring up or create all kinds of negatives, both real & imagined to steal your dream.

You’ll never see a truly positive person trying to steal your dream.
Truly positive people will do everything they can to encourage your dream.

Would a truly positive person call you up and try and steal your dream?
No.

You have to question the motives of anybody calling you up out of the blue and offering you their “advice”.

Whether it is a friend, family member, acquaintance or a total stranger, if they start talking negative to you, then they are trying to steal your dream.

It’s totally up to you if you allow them to steal your dream.

Avoid Negative People = Dream Stealers In Your Life.

To Your Success!

Better business time management

Finding Time to Build Your Business When You Have NO Time To Build Your Business

Finding time to build your business can be very tough to do especially when life will not stand still to help your cause. I can definitely relate with what you are going through to the 10th power let me tell you first hand.

People have other full time jobs and other commitments and there is always the procrastination factor that always seems to creep in ever so often too. The reality of the matter is that building your business is going to be hard and is not going to happen overnight.

At times there just seems to be not enough hours in the day and no matter how much you accomplish it feels like your business is growing at a snail’s pace. It takes a consistent and focused effort EVERY single today to even have a chance.

So How Exactly Do You Find The Time To Build Your Business? I believe it all starts with just HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT?

What are you willing to do and to sacrifice to get to where you want to be so that you can escape your present circumstances and accomplish your goals in your business and in life?

No matter how busy you are and how many hours a day you work there will always be some time to put in some solid effort to MOVE FORWARD.

The way I look at is that even if I am only able to put in a few hours a night even if it takes me 5 years to produce an income greater to or equal to what I am making now in my full time job it will be well worth the effort.

It’s not going to be easy and if this is something that you truly want for yourself then no matter what…you will find the time to make things happen.

A few hours a day to pave the way for the rest of your life….sounds good to me!
